My writing mostly focuses on global health, media, journalism and gender issues.
One of the pieces I am most proud of is about health innovations in the developing world. I love it when stories challenge assumptions and uncover the unexpected. That’s why I enjoy writing about stuff like tropical diseases in the U.S. and the dark side of malaria prevention. In November 2011, I did a series of posts for Humanosphere, Seattle KPLU 88.5′s global health and poverty blog.
Media and journalism are other big fascinations for me. I’ve written about changes in journalism fellowship programs. But I often tend towards the lighter side. One piece looked at journalists who diet and tell and another talked about why Sukkot is the red headed stepchild of the Jewish calendar.
I’ve been writing about careers, networking and related stuff for Brazen Careerist. Figuring yourself out professionally is important, but career aspirations shouldn’t totally compromise academic pursuits.
